Modern Web Stack Consulting

Adopt or migrate to the modern framework ecosystem: TanStack, Shadcn/ui, Vite, TypeScript, and the data layer that fits your product. We bring patterns from a decade of production work, not framework-of-the-month pitches.

What we consult on

  1. Framework Selection & Adoption

Honest guidance on whether TanStack Start, TanStack Router, or another framework fits your product.

  2. Design System Architecture

Set up Shadcn/ui, Tailwind, design tokens, and a typed component library.

  3. Testing Strategy

Vitest + Testing Library configurations that produce real signal, not noise.

  4. TypeScript & Code Quality

Strict TypeScript configurations and linting, including migration for JavaScript codebases.

  5. Data Layer Selection

Firebase, Supabase, Neon, and Electric fit different products based on your needs.

  6. Performance & Core Web Vitals

Bundle analysis, lazy-loading patterns, image optimization, and runtime monitoring patterns.

The Modern Stack

Five layers, designed to compose

The modern web stack is a set of layers that compose well. Pick the right pieces for type safety, fast feedback, and a codebase that ages well.

  • UI Layer: Shadcn/ui, Tailwind CSS, Radix
  • Framework Layer: TanStack Start, TanStack Router, TanStack Query
  • Build & Test Layer: Vite, Vitest, Testing Library
  • Language & Quality Layer: TypeScript, Biome, Ultracite
  • Data Layer: Firebase, Supabase, Neon, Electric

A consulting engagement, step by step

  1. Stack Audit

Review of current stack: dependencies, build configuration, test coverage, deployment, and runtime metrics.

  1. Recommendation Report

A written report with prioritized migration sequence, scoped by impact and effort.

  1. Foundation Migration

Handle the foundation move: framework setup, type system, testing infrastructure, build pipeline.

  1. Pattern Migration

Migrate the highest-leverage patterns first.

  1. Component Library

Set up Shadcn/ui or equivalent, and build the first set of typed components.

  1. Handoff & Documentation

Provide a documented stack and a set of conventions that hold up as the team grows.

FAQ

Should we use TanStack Start or TanStack Router?

TanStack Start is built on TanStack Router and adds full-document SSR, streaming, and more.

Do we have to migrate everything at once?

No, we recommend moving in slices: routing first, or data fetching first, etc.

What about CSS-in-JS?

We do not recommend CSS-in-JS for new work; we prefer Tailwind CSS or Sass.

How do you handle accessibility?

Shadcn/ui is built on Radix UI which handles most ARIA correctness automatically.

What if our team uses a different framework?

The patterns are framework-independent. We have helped Vue, Svelte, and even Rails teams adopt the modern testing and code quality patterns.

Let's Talk

Ready to move to a modern stack?

Whether you are starting a new product or modernizing an existing codebase, the conversation starts the same way: what are you building, and what is fighting you today?
